Mikel F Krutzaga was born in 1971, in Gernika, the Baque Country. He was first introduced to music through the musical school in his hometown. His curiosity took him to a school in Andoain (Guipuzkoa) where he studied Film and Television Production.

He began as a sound technician, working on tours with some of the most famous Basque artists such as Kepa Junkera, Iñaki Salvador, Oskorri, Joseba Tapia, Mikel Laboa, Oreka Tx, Mikel Urdangarin and many others. He also worked with some prestigious international musicians, such as Flaco Jiménez, Gwendal, James Brown, John Renbourn, Liam O’flynn etc., with whom he had the opportunity to discover new musical cultures that helped him form and extend his musical style. Mikel F Krutzaga’s career as a recording engineer in studios began in 1997. Since then he has worked with big musicians like Ivan Ferreiro, Benito Lertxundi, Kepa Juntera, Piratas, Javier Colina, Joxan Goikoetxea, Andrzej Olejniczak, Alboka, Marta Aebestyen, Iñaki Salvador, Jorge Pardo, Luad na Lubre, Pirineos Big Band & Randy Brecker, Oreka Tx, Glen Velez, Juan Martín Caminero, Joseba Tapia, Amaia Zubiria, Maddi Oihenart, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Hass, Faltrikeira, Suso Saiz, Mikel Urdangarin and Itoiz among many others. In 2004, he received a Grammy award for his work as a recording engineer and mixer for the “K” by Kepa Junkera disc.

His interest for audiovisual brought him closer to the cinema and in 1998 he recorded his first soundtrack from the songwriter Pascal Gaigne, with whom he has worked ever since in a handful of projects. In these last 20 years he has worked on almost fifty movies, operating with film directors such as Juan José Campanela (Oscar Winner), José María Goenaga, Jon Garaño, Montxo Armendariz, Imanol Uribe, Iciar Bollain, Salvador García Ruiz, Pablo Malo (Goya winner for Best New Director), Ramón Salazar, Mireia Gabilondo and Fernando Bernues among others.

He often works with successful film composers such as Pascal Gaigne, Edy Lan, Angel Illarramendi, Bingen Mendizabal, Sébastien Lipszyc, Manel Gil-inglada , Iñaki Salvador, Oscar Kaiser, Victor H Stumpfhauser, Sergio de la puente etc. He has also earned special recognition for his work in the field of video games. In 2010 he recorded "Castlevania Lords of Shadow" by Oscar Araujo. This AAA videogame received international awards, being rated as one of the best soundtracks for videogames. In 2012 “The Fall of the House of Usher”, movie in which Christopher Lee collaborated, passed to the short list of the Oscar awards of Hollywood. In 2012 “ Loreak” and in 2014 “El Olivo” were both chosen by the Spanish Academy to represent Spain in the Academy Awards. Mikel F Krutzaga has earned much respect and success in the world of music production for films and videogames.
